Weekend Recap

Hello all!

This past weekend was busy, busy. I took off work and my internship on Friday to head to Houston for an advising meeting for the graduate program there. I left at 3:00AM (you have no idea how hard it was for me to wake up that early), drank a sugar-free Red Bull, had a wonderful, informative meeting, pretty much avoided most of Houston's traffic (SCORE!), got lost on the way home due to a stupid road work detour (thank God for maps, my GPS was zero help), and saw a beautiful sunset on the drive. All in all, it was a pretty darn good day. Here's an iphone picture recap of the day:

I seriously am so in love with the UH campus. It's HUGE, but all the stuff they have on campus is pretty neat. It's seriously like a miniature city. Crazy. Plus all the people/staff that I met were super nice and seemed like they really wanted you there. I'm 90% sure that's where I'm going for my MSW in the Fall and I've been trying to decide if I want to live on campus in the graduate housing (which is INSANELY expensive) or live off-campus in an apartment (which is still expensive, but less expensive than the grad housing). Also, do I want a roommate or not? I never got the whole "college experience" for my undergrad since I lived at home and commuted back and forth to campus so I'm kind of wondering if I should live on campus and do the whole roommate thing? Or live off-campus and do the roommate thing?

Do you guys have any thoughts on the pros and cons of where to live/roommate situation? I'd love to hear it!

Anyway, after Friday came and went, Saturday & Sunday were filled with working on schoolwork, FINISHING my senior thesis (Yep, I said FINISHED!), cuddling with my pup (who looks really scared of my phone in the pic for some reason) and trying (non-successfully) to get her to play with an old frisbee (she was not amused at the thought -- such a diva), finding a little time to journal, AND my graduation invitations came in!!! They are so pretty ;) I can hardly believe in just one short month I will be walking across that stage for my 15 seconds of fame (yeah, we don't even get 30 seconds). I'm beyond ready. Oh, also, just wanted to let you guys know (even though you probably don't care) that I have just FIVE days left in my internship. I'm so pumped, mostly because I won't have to spend $100 bucks that I don't have on gas every week. My bright idea of taking an internship an hour away from home is biting me in the posterior end.

How was your weekend, friends? I hope it was lovely and consisted of at least one thing you enjoy doing. I think we, here in the States, need to adopt the whole siesta mindset of Spain and take like a two-hour break in the day to refocus and refresh, but sadly that's what we try to cram in our short little weekends along with everything else we couldn't get done in the week and most of the time the whole relaxing doesn't happen. Oh well, such is life and I will stop rambling now.
